What: Food and Photography retreat
We´ll explore the local food scene, baking and cheese-making sessions, style and photograph food scenes working on composition and the use of light.
We will work on post editing, and how to use social media to reach potential clients, further our work, and to be able to make a living from our passion for food and photography.
Each day we´ll begin with an introduction to the day over a warm cup of Italian coffee, working on recognising the use of light, composition and visual storytelling. We´ll analyse the work of great artists and photographers and work on the use of light and composition in our still-life and photography.
Food & Drink: The Abruzzo region of Italy has rich food traditions and our in-house cooks will lead l us in regional food making sessions as well as cooking for us. Towards the end of the day we will gather for evening cocktail sessions led by mixologist, Theo Maxfield. You will learn a thing or two about drinks made with local botanicals and traditions.
Each day begins with freshly made breakfast in front of the fireplace.
We'll cook, style and photograph focusing on becoming better at visual storytelling, creating a business, honing in on our creative dreams, and learning the ropes of the game.
Photography: As a core, and a red thread through this workshop is visual storytelling through photography, both on and offline, in building our photography skills, challenging our eye and slowing down. We´ll have hands on styling and photography sessions, as well as post production in Lightroom, and learning about the use of the traditional dark room.
Accommodation: We´ll all be lodging in a medieval village on top of a hill with views of the surrounding landscape.
Each room with open fireplaces to keep you all snug and warm during this Spring retreat.
This will also be our home base for our cooking sessions, food styling and photography.

The nearest airports are Pescara (1 hour away) and Rome (1 and a half hour drive).
As for the connection, you can take a bus/train to L’Aquila and then arrange a 15 minutes taxi ride through the hotel Sextantio, Santo Stefano di Sessanio
