A Taste of Norway
Where: Oslo and Lom, Norway
When: 3-7th of September, 2018
What: A taste of Norway, Food and Photography workshop
I’ve always wanted to create a workshop in Norway, to bring you all back to my Scandinavian roots and introduce you to the unique and ever so tasty Norwegian food culture, it’s majestic landscape and beautiful old traditional log home atmosphere. I cannot wait to welcome you home, back to my roots and spend five gorgeous days together cooking, styling, photographing, and traveling into the heart of Norway.
Each day we´ll begin with an introduction to the day over a warm cup of Norwegian style coffee, working on recognising the use of light, composition and visual storytelling. We´ll analyse the work of great artists and photographers and work on the use of light and composition in our still-life and photography.
Our first day together will be spent in Oslo, where we’ll be introduced to the Norwegian food scene with a cooking session followed by food styling and photography galore, in a beautiful studio with a prop collection to die for, before we round it off with a cocktail session with mixologist Theo Maxfield working with local botanicals and traditional drinks, and head off into the night for an autumnal feast.
We’ll travel together to our mountain location in lom, Norway. With stops along the way to soak up on what beautiful Norway has to offer in terms of food, architecture and landscape.
Ending the day with a traditional food feast in our old log homes with a warm crackling fireplace.
Day three and four:
Will be spent in Lom, based at our old mountain coach inn with glorious days, cooking, styling, photographing, antiques shopping at a local hidden gem and exploring the stunning landscape around our home in the mountains.
We pack our bags after breakfast and make our way down from the mountains back to Oslo, where we say farewell as the sun sets the same day.
Food & Drink:
Norway and it’s diverse, yet simple, and ever so tasty food culture is an unsung hero that has yet to be discovered outside its boarders.
My mother has been a keeper of many of our old food traditions that I cannot wait to share with you.
Each day will begin with a traditional breakfast before embarking on days filled with hands on cooking and drinks making sessions, food styling and lifestyle photography.
Towards the end of the day we will gather for evening cocktail sessions led by mixologist, Theo Maxfield. You will learn a thing or two about drinks made with local botanicals and traditions.
We'll cook, style and photograph focusing on becoming better at visual storytelling, creating a business, honing in on our creative dreams, and learning the ropes of the game.
As a core, and a red thread through this workshop is visual storytelling through photography, both on and offline, in building our photography skills, challenging our eye and slowing down. We´ll have hands on styling and photography sessions, as well as post production in Lightroom.
All levels of photography are welcome.
We´ll all be lodging in a old coach inn, build in the traditional log home way, nestled in the Norwegian mountains. However our first day and night of the workshop will be spent in Oslo in a charming little place and in a a beautiful studio with a dreamy prop collection to introduce you to the Scandinavian light, and way of life.
Both private and shared rooms are available.
Each room in our old coach inn with open fireplaces to keep you all snug and warm during this autumn retreat.
This will also be our home base for our cooking sessions, food styling and photography.
