I’m thrilled to announce a winter retreat in the heart of France in collaboration with the lovely mother and daughter team Marjorie and Kendal from The Cook's Atelier based in Beaune!

I used to spend my childhood summers in the south of France where I fell in love with its people, culture and especially its cuisine, and I simply couldn't be more excited about returning to France to team up with The Cooks Atelier, who´s work I´ve been admiring for years, for this retreat!

This two day retreat will be based around a love of photography and good food, and will feature trips to local producers, markets and antique shops as well as gathering in the beautiful cooks atelier kitchen, to cook and photograph together, and whiling away the hours discussing food styling and photographing as we work on telling visual stories around food.

I couldn't think of a lovelier setting for all of this than in the heart of France, based in the stunning atelier of Marjorie and Kendall from the Cooks Atelier.

On our arrival day, we will gather for a welcome dinner at The Cook's Atelier, where we will mingle and meet Kendal and Marjorie, and get to know all the other retreat participants.

The next day we will begin by exploring the historic town of Beaune, sourcing fresh produce from local markets, and with a photography session based around visual storytelling, the use of natural light, styling and visual storytelling.

In the afternoon there will be a hands-on cooking class run by Marjorie and Kendal prepared with seasonal local produce sourced form the local market, followed by a candlelit dinner, local wine, and time for lovely conversations around creativity, food, France and whatever else we might fancy.

The second day will start with a morning visit to a local cheese shop, a bit of prop shopping at the local brocante, followed by a photo field trip to the Beaune market.
In the afternoon we will gather to discuss more elements of food styling and photography, followed by a cooking class, before sharing dinner together around the long dining table in the atelier as the sun sets outside.
But we can’t leave without one more proper french breakfast, a few hugs and a farewell with french pastries an coffee on morning of departure.

This is an intimate retreat, with only a handful of participants.
Three nights accommodation (accommodation from the 3rd - 6th) is included in the price, as is food and drink.

Baune is a charming little village set in the heart of Burgundy, with vineyards, local farmers and rolling green hills.

When you´ve reserved your spot by purchasing a place through the buttons below, you´ll receive a confirmation email and a more detailed schedule will arrive in your mailbox closer to the retreat date.

This is non refundable retreat, but we´d be happy to book you in on another retreat we´re hosting should you fall ill or not be able to make the dates after reserving your spot.
